Title IX Information

Dear RMU Community Members,

Robert Morris University is committed to maintaining an environment that is free of sex-based discrimination and misconduct. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities at universities/institutions receiving federal financial assistance. Title IX prohibits all forms of sex-based discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, and other forms of sexual misconduct. To reinforce RMU’s continued focus on a safe learning environment, we are pleased to report that Dr. Yasmin Purohit will now be serving as RMU’s Title IX Coordinator. 

Dr. Yasmin Purohit, Interim Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and Title IX Coordinator, will oversee and provide leadership for all Title IX related activities. This will include working with administrators who carry out investigations, compliance-related responsibilities and reporting. As Title IX Coordinator, Dr. Purohit, along with a Title IX Task force, will work to resolve complaints and address issues of sex-based discrimination and sexual misconduct at Robert Morris University.

Any student, staff, or faculty member who has concerns regarding sex discrimination and/or sexual misconduct is encouraged to seek the assistance of the Title IX Coordinator. Dr. Yasmin Purohit can be reached at purohit@rmu.edu, or by phone at 412-397-5472. Dr. Purohit’s office is located on the 1st floor of the new Business School building (BUS 125).

Please feel free to contact Dr. Yasmin Purohit if you:
  • Wish to understand your options if you think you may have witnessed or been a victim of sex discrimination or sexual misconduct
  • Become aware of a situation that may warrant a University investigation
  • Need assistance in handling a situation in which you are indirectly affected
  • Need guidance on possible informal remedies or administrative measures to alleviate a difficult situation.
